Hand made by Cambodian mothers to help empower them and help them keep their children in school.

Made from T-shirt off-cuts and rice sacks.
700mm x 1000mm.
Each rug is unique.

Carpets for Communities works in the Poipet commune, Cambodia on the Thailand border.
Here, many children are at risk of human trafficking and being sold into prostitution as they are on the streets begging or working to support their family. Equally important, by working and begging, they are deprived of an education that would otherwise improve their long-term livelihoods. This ultimately has them trapped in a cycle of poverty.
By teaching the mothers of these children to produce hand-made rugs made from t-shirt off-cuts and rice sacks, the aim is to help break this cycle by empowering the mothers and their families and help them establish their own micro-enterprises, enabling them to earn an income. This allows them to send their children to school, building their education and allowing their family to have a more dignified and prosperous life.

Cups - Clear PLA
Suitable for cold liquids. 100% biodegradable. Clear cup made from polylactide (PLA), a renewable resource-based resin. The material uses carbon stored in starch plants, usually corn, which is broken down into sugars. The carbon & other elements in these natural sugars are used to make this natural 'plastic' through a fermentation process. Sizes 200ml (8oz) and 360ml (12oz) with optional lids available separately.

NOTE:
The lids for the 200ml (8oz) cup are flat and have no hole in the top. Lids for the 360ml (12 oz) cup are also flat and do have a hole in the top.
Domed lids with holes are available for both size cups in carton quantities only, please contact us for pricing.
